Former SKYCLAD Frontman Cooks Up Unholy Alliance With Italy's ELVENKING

March 29, 2002

A message from former SKYCLAD and current RETURN TO THE SABBAT frontman Martin Walkyier:

“Hail fellow Heathen,

“Just a quick update to inform you that I've just spent a most wonderful week in the company of ELVENKING. This excellent Italian band are not only talented musicians, they are gentlemen and purveyors of the finest hospitality. My thanks to them all for making me feel so welcome.

“I was fortunate enough to be invited to spend six days with them in their beautiful hometown of Sacile in Northeastern Italy. Our time spent together was both enjoyable, yet also highly productive, I believe.

“Some great ideas were discussed, and we also had many opportunities of testing out some interesting musical concepts. I also received the honour of being invited to perform live on stage with them at the Metal.it festival at Thunder Road, a cool Metal club near Pavia. We decided to do three SKYCLAD cover versions for fun, and I would like to thank all the friendly audience that day for their enthusiastic reception. I honestly cannot remember hearing 'Civil War Dance' and 'The Declaration of Indifference' sounding so heavy and precise since around 1994. The inspired ELVENKING adaptation of 'Penny Dreadful' was music to my ears. Horns-ablaze my Brothers!

“As a member of the Amust4music team, I am proud to announce that ELVENKING have been officially confirmed for the line-up of Bloodstock 02 [festival] on August 31st at Derby Assembly Rooms, Derby, U.K. This show will be the U.K. debut live-performance for this most outstanding band of Italian headbanging balladeers. I'm sure that once you've seen these gentlemen play live, you'll agree that they are definitely something not to be missed. Remember you saw them first at Bloodstock.
